As the body of the car was being worked on Jason started the CNC work on the 'Step-Up Box'. The rear end that is
to be used is a 9" Ford with the lowest [commonly available] ring and pinion. A 2.47 to 1. As that will not provide
long enough legs a special gear box utilizing two pair of Winters Quick Change Gears had to be built. A block of
aluminum for the main box was acquired off eBay. The 1" thick aluminum for the side plates was on hand. It was
handy having a CNC mill in the shop and a lot of free labor from Jason.
To make some of the splines it was necessary to make a nonstandard cutter. The shafts were then heat treated and
ground.
