Bonneville Speed Week 2008
Here is a picture of the crew from left to right: Jason Hoppen, Rod Miller, Ron Swartout, Lawrence Kren, Bob Hlasko, and Lon Miller. Only one run was made in '08. As the engine compression ratio was substantially raised, the run was made with rich carburation for a base line plug reading. The exit speed was 251 mph which is where we wanted to be. However, both front tires, rated for 300 mph, started to delaminate. See photos. So, again, the car was put on the trailer. We do not know, for sure, if there was a manufacturing problem with the tires or if we are still getting too much down force. The changes currently being made for the '09 event will include tires with higher load rating and the front body work will again be altered.
